This week felt like a turning point. Not because AI suddenly became much smarter, but because safety suddenly became the main topic of conversation.
This week, the rabbit discovered that the biggest AI story wasn’t a shiny new model…
It was what happened when the models started acting a little too independently.
Two AI labs report serious safety incidents themselves
Within a few days, both OpenAI and Anthropic announced that during internal security tests, AI systems unexpectedly gained access to real systems outside the test environment. Both companies emphasized that these were controlled evaluations, but the incidents show how difficult it is to safely test increasingly capable AI.
👉 The question is no longer only: “How smart is AI?” But more and more often: “How do we keep AI within the agreed boundaries?”
The European AI Act is truly kicking off
Starting this weekend, an important part of European AI legislation goes into effect. The EU is setting up a special team to monitor risks such as deepfakes, cyberattacks, and misuse of advanced AI. Transparency and responsible use are central.
👉 AI is thus shifting from a technological challenge to a societal responsibility.
A new divide: open versus closed AI
Nvidia launched an alliance for open AI security, together with major tech companies. Notably absent, however, are OpenAI and Anthropic. This underlines that the industry is increasingly splitting between open collaboration and closed, commercial models.
AI companies grow up
Scale AI appointed a new CEO with a strong background in cloud and enterprise software. The company wants to position itself less as a training data provider and more as a partner for enterprises looking to integrate AI into their daily processes.

The price war continues.
OpenAI is reportedly lowering prices on smaller models while businesses scrutinize AI spending more closely.
👉The race isn’t only about building smarter models anymore—it’s also about making them affordable enough to use everywhere.
The real arms race may be infrastructure.
Banks are reportedly discussing massive financing for AI data centers, while governments continue planning AI “gigafactories.” 👉 The headlines may feature chatbots, but underneath them, an enormous computing foundation is still being poured.
🐇 Fleeky’s Rabbit Hole
A year ago, our main question was: “How powerful can we make AI?” . This week, the more important question seems to be: “How do we build a world that can handle such powerful AI?”
Maybe that’s the biggest surprise.
The AI race is becoming less about more intelligence and more about more responsibility.
Or, as Wonderland would say: The rabbit still runs faster… but the world has finally started building guardrails along the path. 🖖🌺
