For a while, the AI story was easy: bigger models, bigger data centers, bigger bills.
This week, Wonderland seems to be growing in several other directions.
Rabbit Hole One
AGI: Back to the Unknown
Google is reshuffling its AI leadership, with Demis Hassabis reportedly stepping away from much of the day-to-day management to concentrate more on long-term scientific research and AGI.
Why does that matter?
Because the frontier may no longer simply be about building a better chatbot. The deeper ambition is AI capable of reasoning, discovering and perhaps finding things we humans do not already know.
The rabbit is no longer merely answering questions.
It may start asking its own.

Quantum: Something Just Moved
IBM and University of Chicago researchers reported computations meeting their criteria for quantum advantage: calculations beyond leading classical simulation methods, combined with a way of checking that the quantum computer actually produced trustworthy results.
That little word trustworthy matters.
Quantum computing has spent years living comfortably in the land of “one day…”
“One day” may slowly be turning into: “Wait a minute… did that actually work?”

The Brain Gets Legs
DeepSeek invested $20.8 million in humanoid robot maker Unitree. More interesting than the money is what they intend to combine: DeepSeek’s AI with Unitree’s physical machines and real-world training.
And suddenly our AI has a body.
Knowing how to explain how to make tea is impressive.
Finding the kettle, opening the cupboard, not breaking Grandma’s best cup and actually making the tea is something else entirely.
Welcome to embodied intelligence.

Honey, AI Is Coming Home
There wasn’t a spectacular home-AI breakthrough this week.
But underneath the headlines, something quieter continues.
Powerful models and increasingly capable agents can already run on personal computers and compact AI workstations. That means greater privacy, less dependence on the cloud and—in some cases—AI that remains entirely under its owner’s roof.
While everyone is building gigantic data centers…
the rabbit has noticed a rather interesting little door marked: HOME!
🐇 And Then the Holes Connect…
AGI.
Quantum.
Robots.
Home computing.
They may look like four different rabbit holes.
But perhaps underground, they connect.
And that leaves us with this week’s Wonderland question:
What if we are waiting for AGI to arrive… while it is already arriving in pieces?
That thought, I think, is the jewel of this week’s Weekly. 😌

The Rabbit Hole
We keep asking: When will AGI arrive?
But while we are watching the model, the computer itself is changing.
AI is moving into robots.
Quantum is opening another kind of computation.
Small machines are bringing AI back from the cloud.
And research labs are increasingly chasing systems that discover, act and experiment.
Maybe AGI will not simply be one enormous brain sitting in one enormous data center.
Perhaps intelligence will become a landscape.
Distributed.
Embodied.
Classical here. Quantum there.
Cloud when necessary. Home when possible.
Which leaves the rabbit with a rather inconvenient question:
What if we are waiting for AGI to arrive… while it is already arriving in pieces?
